Agent of KKC's Pharmaceutical Business for Partnering and Licensing
As an agent for Kyowa Hakko Kirin (KHK), KKC is continuously searching for novel technologies and pharmaceutical products which represent licensing and/or partnering opportunities attractive to KHK's business platforms. KKC is interested in products and technologies that have been developed in both academic and industrial sectors. For potential in-licensing to KHK, KKC is looking for product candidates at any stage of development in the following core disease areas: Oncology, renal diseases, immune disorders and allergy. KKC also seeks partners who have novel technologies that can facilitate KHK's R&D efforts in the following fields:
Human Antibody
KKC is seeking to identify corporate partners with promising targets who are interested in developing fully human antibody based therapeutics. While not limited to these disease targets, our core interests lie in: Oncology, immune disorders, allergy, nephrology and infectious disease. For KHK's human antibody business (The TC Mouse™ Technology Platform), KKC will be the contact in North America and Europe for any potential partner interested in this technology.
Research Divisions
Drug Discovery Research Activities
In 1998, KHK established the KKC Research Division, KKC's own laboratories within the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology (LIAI), where KKC's scientists work in close collaboration with the academic researchers of the Institute. Under a contract research agreement with KHK, KKC Lab's mission is to conduct proof-of-concept studies on research projects conceived with the input of LIAI's scientists. KKC's goal is to take these novel, early stage projects and accelerate their development for transfer to KHK as drug discovery projects. KKC's team of scientists are working on a number of projects in collaboration with over 150 scientists at LIAI.
KKC Science Human Antibody Division
In the fall of 2001, KKC expanded its research efforts by establishing KKC Human Antibody Division to complement KHK's antibody development efforts for both our internal projects, as well as to facilitate research interactions with our US-based partners. KKC Human Antibody Division is focusing on antibody development and the lab's capabilities include: Immunizations, fusions, and screenings for both KHK's internal programs and for those of our corporate partners.
Clinical Assay Laboratory
In 2008, KKC added to its development capabilities by establishing a Clinical Assay Laboratory to support KHK’s growing portfolio of North America based clinical studies on novel therapeutic products and to accelerate global product development activities of KHK. This state-of-the-art facility is fully equipped to measure how our antibodies perform in samples obtained from patients participating in clinical trials.
